Introduction

This site uses “things”. Not a big surprise, but how this things are interacting with you and your data ?

Storage on this site

This is a static website, which by definition is read-only. That means no written data, at all. No user information is stored on the site.

Cookies

There is only one cookie and one value: it is to ensure that you have read these conditions. It is displayed on the first visit only, unless you clear the browser cache, delete the cookie, or access the site with a different browser not previously used.

Local browser storage

I have to admit it, I wanted to improve the user experience. Not to write these wonderful lines in perfect english (no one reads it anyway), but rather because it’s better.

This concerns the reader preference controls, which are now limited to:

  • normal or dark mode
  • show table of contents
  • numbered titles
  • collapse tables

This data is stored as a key/value in your local browser storage - it’s more secure than cookies and simpler. Some documentation for chrome and firefox.

Ads and statistics

In a previous version, I was using Google Analytics to get statistics. But it is blocked by several adblocks, and generates a lot of cookies and API calls.

So now, there is absolutely no analytics on the user side, only the access logs are crunched and analyzed. As a result, there is zero advertising, trackers or anything else. Nothing, really.

Tracking

As said in the previous paragraphs, there is no cookies except for validating reading this conditions, no ads, no agents, no user-side scripts.

Be our guest, you’re not tracked, nor followed, and there’s no Ads. Just have fun!

Comments

This is a static website. That’s good for security, but not for commenting.

Therefore, comments are handled by an external function, namely Hyvor. Please click here and here to read their terms.

Subscription function

Because you like so much the publications of the site that you would be kept informed when new articles are published, the Subscription is possible on the site.

How it Works

The submit of this subscription launches in turn an API and a serverless function that will fill your details in tables type key/value, encrypted.

The locations of these technologies are in Europe. The transit is made between your browser and the API gateway, via HTTPS/TLS protocol, and thus encrypted.

The access to this data is exclusively reserved to the owner(s) of this blog.

How to Cancel your Subscription

There are two ways to unsubscribe :

  • Contact us via social networks
  • Click on Subscribe button again, enter “DELETE” as your name and the same email address you used to register. A script is executed every week to remove those flagged records

You will then receive a last email to confirm you’re unregistered, because we’re sad and we want to say a last goodbye 😢

Comments functionality uses third party provider, with its own GDPR quote:
